Your student! I am very proud of the progress students made in the 1st quarter. Report cards, CogAT scores, and mClass reports can be found in their report card envelope. Each student is also bringing home their black data binder. Please remember to sign EACH TEST in the corner or at the top (so I know you saw it) and return it back to school tomorrow along with the report card envelope. Students are also bringing home Tuesday folders. If you volunteered to bring an item for our Thanksgiving feast, your assigned item is in their folder.
This week in reading, students will continue identifying character traits using a character's actions, thoughts, and/or words. In Writing, they will begin the persuasive/opinion writing unit. This week they are brainstorming reasons they should not be eaten (if they were a turkey!) In Math, students will continue the multiplication/division unit. They will learn new strategies to multiply - like decomposing larger factors, then adding the products together. 7x7=49 which is the same as. 7x5 + 7x2 = 35+14 = 49. In Science, students will begin the Human Body unit. In this unit, students will learn the names of the bones, the function of the skeleton, and the names and functions of the joints.
